Housing Support

new home

A personal support package tailored to our clients’ changing needs, which works in conjunction with all other support programmes. This support package focuses on housing advice and guidance and preparing clients for fully independent living, through supporting them in:

  • Setting up Housing benefit and the most suitable income based on an assessment of the client’s circumstances, (Jobseekers Allowance, Income Support, ESA, DLA, Child Benefit and Tax Credits)
  • One to One support in setting up utilities and improving financial stability; understanding bills and budgeting, wages, banking, contracts, debt advice, financial abuse and increasing communication, numeracy and literacy skills
  • Providing practical advice in keeping the home safe, clean and tidy
  • Support in increasing clients’ self confidence to complete tasks alone

The support programme is reviewed and modified to reflect changes that take place throughout the tenancy such as change in income, education, employment, pregnancy, health, and family or partner reconciliation.

When the client demonstrates that they are confident, tenancy ready and able to cope with independent living, support workers refer them to the relevant housing providers including Local Authority, Private Landlords, Housing Associations and University Student Accommodation.
